Work started in earnest today for next years PaganSoc. I’ve already sorted and filed the financial records and today I started on the website. Well at 17.20 anyway. So far we have an RSS Feed, a new self maintaining newsletter that sends whatever is posted on the site to all subscribers, an automated dropdown box for the themes (all I have to do now is upload a new theme and it appears on the list), the archive list automatically updates, and now anything that goes on the site will be posted automatically on Lord Socky’s LJ so you can keep up-to-date on LiveJournal as well through your friends page.
Things to come include the forum (all I have to do is port the present themes for the site onto it, I’m also going to try to have it so that you only need the one login for site, forum and gallery), and I’m going to have to port the same themes to our gallery and I’m thinking of having user submissions (it will have to be monitored I know but if we’re going to have a forum then there’ll be someone doing it anyway, can probably get it to email them when someone uploads something).
One other thing and if I can get the one log-in thing to work then this is what I’ll do, on Freshers’ Week (or whenever you join) that’s when you get your online account. So only members can access commenting, posting, uploading, etc. Everyone can still view the site of course.
If anyone has ideas for the website speak now or forever hold your peace, because when I say the site is done, that’s it I’m not going back to it, it’s only adding content from then on. Other things to do, still have to do next years posters, I have templates but the big problem is that we can’t book anywhere for Freshers’ Week yet. Anyway, will have Samhain’s done (25th October at 7pm in The Blue Room, just so you know).
